Our commitment is to a quality academic program and academic achievement. In addition, we provide a wide variety of enrichment activities that enhance each student's learning experiences.
With an instructional focus on literacy, we will be making special efforts to improve student reading and writing levels, with the goal of having every student reading and writing at or above grade level. We have set literacy as our instructional focus because literacy is at the core of learning in all subjects.
As a professional learning community, we are dedicated to ensuring that all students achieve success in their individual programs of study. All members of our community are expected to persist to find ways to make every student successful. We are committed to early intervention to support students who are having difficulty with some aspect of their learning and to finding the best, research-based teaching and learning practices to ensure high levels of learning for all students.
In all aspects of school life, Killarney students and staff are expected to act as people of character, guided by the thirteen character virtues. Literacy - Killarney School’s instructional focus is to have Killarney students show measurable growth in their ability to read and write competently for a variety of purposes and audiences. Student growth will be measured by school-wide writing samples, the HLAT reading and writing tasks, standardized reading tests, and the provincial achievement test.
